Exploring the Southeast's Largest Floating Solar Installation

The largest floating solar project in the Southeast.

Developed by D3Energy for Orange County Utilities, this 1.2 MW project sits on a retention pond, directly powering the water treatment facility.

Why Floating Solar?

D3Energy, a pioneer in floating solar development since 2014, envisioned a sustainable solution. In a dilemma about cutting down trees for traditional solar panels, the idea of utilizing the on-site retention pond emerged. This not only avoids disturbing the surrounding forest but also serves a dual purpose—floating solar and stormwater management without compromising capacity.
